Few games have been as original and as universally loved as that ultimate time vacuum, Tetris. The genius of Tetris is its simplicity. You control the game pieces as they fall one at a time into the well, moving them side to side and rotating them 90 degrees. The pieces, known as Tetriminoes, come as one of seven configurations of four square blocks clustered together, and they land on the pieces already fallen. The object of the game is to complete solid rows of blocks. This makes the row disappear. If the well fills with pieces, the game is over, so you must continually clear away rows to keep the game going. You must avoid covering up open spaces, or that row beneath will be impossible to clear until you’ve cleared the blockage.

You get to see what the next piece will be, and in the few seconds you have before the piece falls and lands in place at the bottom, you have to figure out the best place for it to fit at the bottom. You go for as long as you can, and you earn points for dropping pieces and completing rows. Clear enough rows, and you advance to the next level, where the pieces fall a bit faster, and your reflexes and judgment have to get a bit quicker.
